The first film that Jess Franco directed was a 16 minute short film called EL ARBOL DE ESPANA aka THE TREE OF SPAIN. This film was released in 1957 and not only did he direct it, but he also co-wrote it with Jose Maria Forque, Rafael Garcia Serrano and Luis Patac and co-wrote the music with Enrique Pinilla.
The film was produced by Sindicato Nacional del Olivo. The film starred Magdalena Castro as herself, Lolita Cervantes as Voice, Paco de Ronda as himself, Marion Mitchell as herself and Amparo Renkel as herself. The film was shot in Eastmancolour.
